Today the rumours were proven to be true with the transfer of Josh Brillante being confirmed by the club. Brillante has signed a 2 year deal with Melbourne.
Brillante has been a standout performer in a strong Sydney FC side with interest from Asia last season being the only reason he was not selected at times. Brillante will come into our side and add some more class to a midfield that didn’t create as many chances as we would have liked last season.
We would expect him to step into the team and partner Griffiths in the heart of the midfield. If Brattan can be retained this will be a midfield that oozes class and ability whilst providing stable defensive prowess.
Brillante said to melbournecityfc.com.au “This is an exciting time in Melbourne City’s Journey, and I cant wait to contribute and be a part of it.” Brillante also added that “I’m here to help Melbourne City win trophies…” this hunger is exactly what the fanbase has been craving and Brillante is the type of player who can help us achieve this.
In other news today it has been announced that Curtis Good will be remaining at City for a further two years. This is a welcome re-signing with Good showing his class at times last season. He will continue to push for a starting birth at CB.
Good told Melbournecityfc.com.au that “The club and the fans have been incredibly supportive of me during my return to football last season and I’m looking forward to pushing even harder this year as we try to win a first league title for the club.”
Both players will be in selection contention for the upcoming friendly against Oakleigh Cannons as well as our FFA cup clash against Campbelltown SC. On. Wednesday 31st of July.
