W-League fixture wrap-up: Title defence, double-headers galore and TC's 'unmissable' home games

Fans of the ‘Dub’ rejoiced today at the release of the 2020/21 W-League fixture, with our champion City girls set to have a number of attractive timeslots for fans to show their support.

City will get their title defence underway in a huge Grand Final rematch against Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday, December 30, which will be the first of four double-headers throughout the season.

Perhaps disappointingly, City’s two home double-headers will both be played on Sundays at 4pm (with the Men’s game to kick off at 6pm, a much-loathed timeslot). However, the first of the two double-headers, played against Western Sydney on January 2, will be backed up by a Men’s “Derby” against Western United, which may see a higher-than-average attendance. The other double-header will see the Women’s and Men’s teams face off against Canberra United and Newcastle Jets respectively.

The club haven’t yet finalised venues for the W-League home fixtures that aren’t played at AAMI Park and will release this information once a venue is secured. That being said, we’ve gone through the fixture list and picked out two non-AAMI home games that are surely ‘must attends’: our Round 2 clash against WSW on Saturday, January 2 at 5pm represents an excellent time slot for fans, especially with the Men’s side not playing until the next day at Coopers Stadium in Adelaide, whilst our Home Derby will take place on Thursday, January 28 at 7pm, a perfect occasion for our active support to push the City girls on to Derby glory.

FOX Sports are set to broadcast at least 27 regular-season games and the entire Finals series, while ABC Sport will be broadcasting Sunday afternoon fixtures and Finals. ALL matches can be streamed live on Kayo Sports and the MyFootball Live app.
