With the new season fast approaching, the annual kit release is always a hot topic for most City fans. This season's new threads are arguably more important than ever, as it will be the first season spent as defending A-League champions.
Starting with our home shirt, many of us will be reminded of a very similar shirt design from the 2016-17 season, with both shirts contrasting their primary colours between the body and shoulders. This year's effort sees City blue making up the majority of the shirt, partnered with blue-trimmed white shoulders. As per the past two seasons, our shorts and socks will both be City blue.
Our away kit revisits what is fast becoming a Melbourne City staple of using darker shades. This season's away strip sees a dark grey occupy the main colour scheme of the shirt, socks and shorts. Eyes will instantly be drawn to the unique geometric design pattern, as well as the matching gold Etihad Airways sponsorship and club logo.
The club has also announced that a third kit for the 2021/22 season will be revealed soon.
Between the nostalgic nod to our past and a new, innovative design, our kits for the upcoming season will be sure to have many fans talking. Love them, hate them, or anything in between, fresh kits are the sign of a new season just around the corner.
