This week we have seen the permanent appointment of football veteran Rado Vidosic, fittingly so after our six-goal-demolition of Macarthur Bulls last weekend.
Rado will certainly want to begin his permanent contract with a massive win away at Perth Glory's Macedonia Park, which is quickly becoming a fortress for the once wooden spoon shoo-ins, having not lost a game at their new home.
The lads will surely be up for the task, especially coming off such a large win over the weekend. The floodgates opened against Macarthur, so let's keep it going.
With a tough challenge ahead, here are the three major talking points leading into this one:
In Rado we trust!
As mentioned previously, Rado Vidosic has shocked everyone in becoming our newest permanent manager, having impressed the powers that be in his interim control.
As #SokkahTwitter (more so the City side of it) ran rampant looking for external candidates such as Des Buckingham, Ufuk Talay and Arthur Papas, City's leaders were looking internally - as they have successfully done before - to find Patrick Kisnorbo's successor.
While I admit I was a doubter in the early days, Rado seems to have a solid gauge on the ability of our squad, and we saw how the team can flourish together in this environment against Macarthur. If he can get the boys firing like that on a consistent basis, he can keep the job for as long as he wants it.
Jamie Maclaren is closing in
Out of curiosity, I thought to look at how close Jamie Maclaren is getting to the greatest record of them all: the league's top scorer of all time. He is only six goals away from equalling the record and seven away from surpassing it.
With the Derby coming up, that could easily be five goals closer too, right? So a brace against Perth tomorrow night could send Maclaren well on his way. Jokes aside (or was it a joke?), Jamie is certainly the best goal-scorer that we have ever seen, evidenced by his ratio of 0.72 goals per game (Ultimate A-League). That statistic tops anyone to ever score in the A-League Men's, no matter how many games they played. Let that sink in.
With 12 games still to play in the regular season, we will certainly be celebrating this record-breaking moment sometime soon knowing Jamie's goal-scoring record. Watch this space.
Time to storm the fortress
Perth Glory has revitalised its home support in establishing Macedonia Park as a temporary home while HBF Stadium undergoes renovations in preparation for the 2023 Women's World Cup.
If the footage and audio is anything to go by, the Glory faithful are loving the change, creating a hostile atmosphere that opposing sides are intimidated by. This is seen in the wicked uplift in results that Perth has been able to maintain since going back West; four wins and three draws. Massive.
We should not go into the game worried, but certainly wary of what a home crowd can do for the Glory players in acting as that 12th man. If we play with the same conviction as we did against Macarthur, they will be in trouble.
