We have hit a difficult run of form for the first time this season, and our boys will look to turn it around against Adelaide United this afternoon.
With two draws from the last two games, there is no doubt that we must get back on the winners' list to continue our dominance of the league this season and ensure that the chasing pack struggles to keep the pace.
At home, and with the City Terrace back, on a perfect 22-degree day, there is no reason why we shouldn't be aiming to play beautiful football and score some goals while we're at it.
With that being said, here are the three talking points leading into this one:
Where have the goals gone?
Our scoring record has been really solid this season, scoring more than twice in all but two games up until our draw with the Wanderers. Since then, we have only scored once in two games. Why?
Honestly, it hasn't been down to a lack of chances. We had more than 30 shots against the Wanderers, and some scoring opportunities - especially the last-minute chance - against Brisbane which went begging.
It could just be down to fixturing. After us, the Wanderers and Brisbane each boast the second and third-best defenses in the league (in terms of goals against). Adelaide, however, have shipped a few more goals than our last two opponents. If we are on point today, we should be looking to return back to our normal scoring rate.
If not, questions need to be asked.
Bos is back!
Easily the biggest inclusion over the week has been the return of Jordan Bos, who unfortunately missed out last weekend due to concussion protocols. Though Scott Jamieson plays his role very well in lieu of Jordan, we were definitely missing the sharpness in attack that the youngster brings.
One would assume that Bos is slotted straight back into the starting eleven, considering his fantastic form this season. It just makes sense. While speaking on our full-backs, I would be surprised if Callum Talbot does not move back into the starting eleven after being benched against Brisbane. Scott Galloway is a great option in that area, but Talbot has offered a consistent brand of football that is too good to pass up.
To return back to form, we should definitely go with the starting eleven that has worked this season. Bring the young lads back in and watch the magic unfold!
City Terrace is back!
With the controversial 'terrace ban' concluding after our thrashing of Western United (just had to bring it up again), our City Terrace will be back in full force for the first time in 39 days.
The City Terrace has called our fans to action. We need to get behind the boys and really make sure Adelaide know exactly where they're playing, and that we will be loud and proud of our City lads. After all, they deserve the best.
We've played some outstanding football this year, the least our fans can do is support the boys the best way we know how! This support will hopefully be telling in our quest to return to the winners list this weekend.
