Rumours are swirling that current Melbourne City manager Patrick Kisnorbo could be heading overseas to France to join a yet unnamed Ligue 1 side.
Logic would dictate that ES Troyes AC would be the destination with the club sharing the same CFG ownership as Melbourne City.
There have been previous rumours that Kisnorbo would be heading to Europe in the past with Sunderland a mooted option but ultimately the move didn't eventuate. With two Premierships and a Championship (on the men's side of the game) under his belt, is now the right time for him to make the leap?
What do we know about Troyes?
Troyes ply their trade in the top tier of French football, Ligue 1, with the team currently sitting in 13th (of 20) with three wins from 15 games. They are only one point above the relegation zone with a tight battle entangling seven clubs. Troyes have not won a game since the 18th of September with four draws and three losses following since they defeated Clermont Foot 3-1, leading to previous manager Bruno Irles being sacked on the 9th of November.
If Kisnorbo was to make the move to France he would be reunited with his friend and mentor in Erick Mombaerts who returned to the club after his stint in Melbourne. The pair worked closely together implementing the system of football that has been bringing success and trophies to the Melbourne side. The potential to connect again with Mombaerts could be one of the most alluring reasons for Kisnorbo to make the move.
Publicly the topic has only existed in the form of rumours on Twitter, with no strong evidence to link Kisnorbo with a Melbourne departure. However, the potential move would be a huge indication of how highly Australian managers are being rated by the top leagues around the world.
