"Let's talk about SIX, baby": Three things we learned - City vs WSW

Melbourne City has increased its winning streak to six with yet another convincing display, this time against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Signs were worrying when Bernie Ibini put the visitors in front midway through the first half, but the home side eventually clicked into gear by responding with four goals of their own in convincing fashion.

Here is what we learned from yesterday's encounter.

The resilience trait is only building:

1-0 down against our bunnies (Western United)? No worries, we will win anyway.

Jamie Maclaren doesn't convert a penalty against this season's worst team? No worries, we will subsequently score six times.

One goal behind against Western Sydney? No worries, we will win that too.

The opposition can throw whatever they like at this team, they've got more than enough ability to respond and that's undoubtedly a sign of an elite side. Should they keep on displaying the never-say-die attitude, then good luck breaking this team's spirit.

Show me better wingers than Noone and Nabbout, I dare you:

Yesterday we saw yet again Andrew Nabbout's confidence and ability to take on and get past opposing full-backs, as well as letting rip from outside the box time after time with that trademark long-range shooting of his (and let's not forget his well-deserved first goal for the club, either!)

Then came Craig Noone's shooting masterclasses. Firstly with an audacious and perfectly executed chip over the keeper from the free-kick, followed by a near-post net-buster to complete his brace on the night - not to mention him also serving Nabbout on a silver platter for goal number two of the night.

These two have seriously elevated themselves to become the league's most dangerous wingers. Opposing defenders will need a magic wand to nullify their influence on this Melbourne City team.

Don't take the lid off, but be very happy:

With twelve rounds still to go of the home and away season, it's no time to be buying Grand Final tickets yet, but that doesn't mean we as City fans can't be excited about how rapidly and beautifully this team is progressing.

In this six-game winning streak, we've seen the boys concede just three goals, score a whopping 20, and most importantly, become an increasingly ever-confident team.

If this purple patch hasn't delighted you as a City fan, then I don't know what will.

City's next match is a fourth-consecutive game at AAMI Park, this time for another addition of #notaderby, though strangely as the away team against our Bunnies. Should we emulate yesterday's largely-clinical performance then there's a good chance that they'll remain our Bunnies, and ironically just in time for Easter too! I think I speak for all City fans when I say that'd be a much tastier treat than any chocolate.
