'Hit For Six!': Three things we learned - Melbourne Derby

Make that three wins in a row for our beloved Melbourne City, and last night's win was made even sweeter as it was against bitter rivals Melbourne Victory to the tune of six goals to nil.

Here's what we learned from last night's game:

How good is Nabbout?!

Let's all take a moment to appreciate the hard work of this man since he's come back, particularly last night.

Constantly attacking down those flanks at 100% intensity, not to mention a perfect cross to set up Florin Berenguer for goal number two.

We missed Nabbout so, so much when he was out injured; it's no longer a secret that alongside Jamie Maclaren, Nabbout is our most important player.

Good luck dropping Connor Metcalfe

If you think for a moment that this man is easily replaceable in our starting eleven, then you may want to think again. He's started every single game so far this season.

When we had that difficult period of three consecutive defeats, Paddy Kisnorbo never lost faith in him and that belief is starting to pay dividends, with the young midfielder starting to put together a proper breakout season.

Between his efficient passing, eye for goal and endless work-rate in the middle of the park, Metcalfe looks a nailed-on starter for the foreseeable future.

Stick with Good and Reis

You could say their job was relatively easy because they were facing one of the league's worst attacks, but that doesn't mean we can't pump up their tires.

Neither of them looked vulnerable at any point in this game, whether it was one-on-ones, thwarting attacks with tackles, or just being in the right place at the right time.

Victory couldn't get a sniff, not even mustering a single shot on-target, such was the defensive solidity of our backline, built on the fantastic individual performances of Good and Reis.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they still found Robbie Kruse and Rudy Gestede when they emptied their pockets as they walked in their front doors post-game.

Melbourne City will be hoping to make it four wins in a row when A-League new boys Macarthur FC come to town on Friday, and if our boys play anything close to the dazzling standard on display yesterday, there's a fair chance that we'll take another three points.
