Here's all you need to know about our 2019/20 fixture!

Perhaps realising that fixtures actually need to be distributed before the season can start, the FFA have FINALLY gone ahead and released the match schedules for every team ahead of the 2019/20 season, so we’re going to walk you through some of the highlights for City fans.

Quite predictably, we’re kicking off the new campaign with a bang at Marvel Stadium in Round 1 against our crosstown rivals (completely, definitely, absolutely not you, Western United) for the next chapter of the Melbourne Derby at 7:30pm on Saturday, October 12.

That’s now the second year in a row that we’ve kicked off our season with a Derby, and fans will likely revel in the memory of last year’s 2-1 victory.

Our first five matches of the season will be played in Victoria, including an inaugural meeting with the aforementioned Western United in Round 3, which will be played at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong.

Our first bye of the season comes in Round 8, with our other scheduled weeks off coming in Rounds 20 and 28.

The Round 8 bye will be followed by Bruno Fornaroli’s return to AAMI park in his first clash against his old side in Round 9 as City take on Perth Glory on Friday, December 6.

AAMI Park will again play host to the Christmas Derby against Victory in Round 11 on Saturday, December 21, whilst Western United will come to visit on Friday, January 3 in Round 13.

The final Derby of the season will come in Round 18 on Saturday, February 7, and it’ll thankfully be played as a home game at AAMI Park, providing a better viewing experience and an exceptional atmosphere as always.

City’s only international trip to face Wellington Phoenix comes a week later in Round 19, with the Phoenix being one of four teams who we’ll play twice instead of three times; the other sides are the Mariners, WSW and Sydney FC.

Round 27 presents another tasty away day opportunity within Victoria, with the boys travelling out to Ballarat to take on Western United at Mars Stadium on Good Friday (April 10).

Following the Round 28 bye, the team will close out its regular season fixtures with a home clash against Sydney FC.

Altogether, there’ll be 13 home matches at AAMI Park; 5 on a Friday and 4 each on Saturday and Sunday.
