Green light: City receives travel exemption from NSW Government

It looks like the Melbourne City playing squad finally has the ‘all clear’ to travel to New South Wales, with the state government providing exemptions to all three Victorian Hyundai A-League teams to travel interstate to complete the 2019/20 season.

The FFA has received an exemption under the NSW Public Health Order, which will permit players and high-performance staff to make the interstate trip, bringing the prospect of season recommencement closer to reality.

The conditions of the exemption require players and staff from all three teams to undertake a mandatory 14-day quarantine period ‘in an agreed facility’. Fortunately, this agreement still enables the playing groups to continue to train and prepare for the season’s imminent recommencement on July 16 as long as the players and staff remain at the facility.

CEO James Johnson confirmed that the FFA will look to modify the current schedule of fixtures to enable all teams to be fully prepared for their remaining matches.

Players will depart for NSW imminently.
