On a day already packed full of Melbourne City news, fans have also been treated to the possible reveal of two previously unannounced returning W-League squad members in club stalwarts TJ Vlajnic and Melissa Barbieri.
The pair were pictured at a Melbourne City W-League training session and can be seen in the following video released on teammate Rebekah Stott’s Twitter account.
Both Vlajnic and Barbieri bring welcomed quality and experience if they are indeed set to be joining the club for another season, with the City veterans likely to be simultaneously mentoring and competing for a starting place against positional counterparts Chelsea Blissett and Sally James respectively.
Serbian international Vlajnic has been with City since the club’s inaugural W-League season, amassing 39 appearances and collecting two premierships and four championships in her time at the club.
Barbieri has five City appearances to her name, with several of those coming towards the end of last season when she stepped up in place of the injured Teagan Micah to help the team to a three-game winning streak to round out the campaign. She is likely to continue in the playing-assistant coach role that she has held since 2018.
